Job Description:
Dow Jones seeks a Data Strategist to lead its charge to create new content and leverage existing information for its premier business news publications, including The Wall Street Journal. The candidate will join Dow Jones Newswires’ research department specializing in impact investing, ESG analysis and broader market insights. Based in Barcelona, this team focuses on serving the needs of business and financial professionals and internal use cases for other teams within the company.
The candidate will assess structured and unstructured data as part of the due diligence process to include new data in the development of new research products. The person must also be able to work collaboratively across the organization and serve as a project leader. For example, this role will act as the link between Dow Jones’s Engineering team and our data vendors for existing products. This person will work closely with the researchers and with other teams within Dow Jones to ensure we’re leveraging our data, research and news in the most effective ways.
Skills:
Technical project management experience: negotiating technical requirements with partner, reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy, managing timelines, data inputs and priorities
Expertise in writing database queries for Amazon Aurora / MySQL
Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform projects associated with BigQuery and ability to manage and query Google BigQuery
Experience with Tableau ecosystem highly preferred
Expertise with machine learning models with Python and ready to answer challenging analytical questions that may require forecast and statistical analysis
Familiarity with Google Workspace (in contrast to Microsoft Office 365) especially Google Sheets and Forms
Strong interpersonal competencies, ability to work collaboratively and excellent communication skills
Familiarity with ranking research, e.g. top colleges, billionaires (Forbes List)
