Dow Jones Fashion Assistant in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal’s WSJ. Magazine seeks a highly organized and hard working fashion assistant to help manage our fashion closet.

This is an exciting opportunity to support a creative and ambitious fashion team. This is an administrative position focused primarily on meticulously​ managing the inflow and outflow of sample shipments.​ You’re a highly motivated team player who is able to manage a high-volume and variety of tasks. You will be based in New York and will report to the Deputy Fashion Market & Accessories Director.

You will:

  • Oversee and coordinate shipping logistics (local, domestic and international), including via carnets, couriers and messenger bookings. Help manage check-ins/check-outs & packing/returns and assist on set, as needed

  • Manage the server: maintain files of all check-ins/check-outs, organize all market images, collect lookbooks for each season

  • Handle department’s schedule as needed during collections

  • Handle editor appointment scheduling

  • Organize run-throughs

  • Be responsible for sending out issues to brands

  • Order fashion closet supplies as needed

  • Maintain the organization of the fashion closet and any in-house samples with proper merchandising

  • Document each item being shipped to/from the office. Ensure that all samples requested are checked in and accounted for and that all looks are complete

  • Follow up with PR offices for pick-up details and log them accordingly

  • Occasionally provide assistance on fashion shoots

You have:

  • Preferably two years of experience working for a fashion magazine in an assistant capacity

  • Interest in and passion for luxury magazine content

  • A track record of being extremely organized and able to manage tasks efficiently

  • A demonstrated ability to be detail oriented and a collaborative team member who works well with others

  • A professional demeanor and calm composure in deadline-driven or stressful situations. We’re looking for someone who has a positive, problem-solving attitude.

The position will be based in New York City and will report to the Deputy Fashion Market & Accessories Director.

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000
