Dow Jones Production Assistant, Video in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a production assistant in New York to support the executive editor and other senior editors of the global video team. The production assistant will be responsible for coordinating the logistics of video shoots, providing administrative support, assisting with research and publishing videos. The person we are looking for is highly organized, a clear communicator and has a background in production and administrative work.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative support, including processing expense reports, planning meetings and travel, calendar and email management, ordering supplies, shipping back products and equipment and other related business matters.

  • Assist with pre-production, including preparing research materials and budgets, booking locations and guests, ordering props and running errands.

  • Assist with production, working with directors to unpack and set up equipment, manage camera media and more.

  • Assist with post-production, including organizing interview transcripts and gathering other assets for the edit.

  • Publish videos and work closely with the Production Managing Editor and the Editorial Director on promotional and other video department needs.

  • Schedule and arrange meetings and conference calls with internal and external contacts.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Key candidate requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience working in production or in an administrative capacity. A college degree is required. Experience working in production at a news organization is preferred.

  • Clear communicator with exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, collaboration and email skills.

  • Strong technical grasp of Google suite and other popular communication, project management and administrative applications. You will set yourself apart if you are comfortable editing in Adobe Premiere.

  • Preference given to those with basic video shooting and editing skills.

  • Strong research skills with an eagerness to learn about journalism.

  • A professional demeanor and calm composure in deadline-driven or stressful situations. We’re looking for someone with a positive, problem-solving attitude.

  • Ability to work late hours and the occasional weekend.
