Dow Jones YouTube Community Manager in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a YouTube Community Manager to join its global video team. You will oversee the core operations of the WSJ YouTube video network, including launching several new channels. You should have a deep familiarity with YouTube best practices and a track record of working on successful social video programs. We are looking for someone who is excited about building channels from the ground up and helping audiences discover our world-class journalism. You will juggle many tasks and collaborate across the Journal's video team and newsroom.

In this role, you will report to the executive director of strategy on the video team. You likely will start this job remotely but will eventually be based in our New York office.

You will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the WSJ YouTube network

  • Be the point person for core channel operations, including new video uploading, optimization and tagging

  • Work with WSJ journalists and graphic designers to oversee YouTube channel visual branding

  • Identify opportunities to optimize library videos

  • Write and publish YouTube community posts in conjunction with WSJ journalists and channel hosts

  • Design YouTube Stories, leveraging new and existing video and graphic assets

  • Work with WSJ video operations team to run live-streaming events when relevant

  • Promote YouTube channels by cross-posting videos and working with the Dow Jones marketing team

  • Deliver reports on YouTube performance as requested

  • Ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed

  • Be able to work late hours and weekends as news developments may warrant

You have:

  • At least three years of experience working with social video platforms

  • A track record of creating successful social video content and/or managing successful social video programs, especially YouTube

  • An understanding of, and interest in, The Wall Street Journal's core topic areas as well as basic editorial judgment and knowledge and interest in current events and news

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • A basic understanding of Adobe Suite, especially Premiere and Photoshop

  • Experience using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, especially Sheets, Excel or a similar spreadsheet program

  • Familiarity with optimization and research tools including Tubular and Google Trends

  • YouTube certification preferred
