Dow Jones News Office Manager in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia

Job Description:

The Washington bureau of The Wall Street Journal is seeking an office manager.

The person in this position will work closely with the Washington bureau chief and will be responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the DC newsroom and helping meet the daily logistical needs of the Journal staff.

You will:

  • Provide executive assistance to the bureau chief, such as scheduling, travel, expense reporting, research.

  • Support reporters and editors with on-boarding and close-out, travel arrangements, expense reports, vacation records, press credentials, IT equipment assignment, and other newsroom logistical needs.

  • Liaise with various Dow Jones operational departments, such as People, Global Security, IT, facilities, DEI.

  • Manage events such as bureau staff meetings and roundtable discussions with newsmakers and policymakers, and organize activities to foster bureau camaraderie and cohesion.

  • Work with the building management and vendors for regular upkeep of the office space.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the bureau chief.

  • Very strong organizational, and oral and written communication skills.

  • Solid work ethic, discreetness, and ability to handle confidential information.

  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to take initiative.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Technological skills including experience with Google Suite, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.

  • Basic accounting skills.
